Wages of Sin
According to the Scriptures
One Man’s Disobedience

Calvary Chapel is all about teaching the Word of God and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you have questions about who Jesus is and what it means to believe in Him feel free to listen to our Bible study on Galatians, click on How to Know God in the menu, or contact us with any questions or prayer requests.

We meet Sunday mornings at 10am for worship and verse-by-verse Bible study in Room 1902, located at 1902 South Main Street in Waynesville (in the corner down from Daylight Donuts). If you want to grow in the Lord and His Word in community with other believers, we would love to have you join us!

Spot 1:

The Bible says, “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

When you think of “wages” you usually think of a paycheck or a reward, right? Well, the reward for sin is death – eternal death or punishment, separation from God. Have you ever made a mistake? Of course you have, you’re human! “…all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) All, that is, but One…

Jesus Christ is God. He the Creator of the whole universe, of everything created. And He became one of us, to live the perfect life and take the punishment for all who would believe. That’s the gift of God… “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Now, will you believe?

Spot 2:

The Bible says, “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures, and He was seen by over 500 brethren at once.” (1 Cor 15:3, 4 & 6)

The Son of God, the Creator in fact became part of His creation to satisfy the punishment for sin, or “missing the mark”. The man Jesus really died and was buried. The price was accepted, sin was covered. And because Jesus rose from the dead, we too can rise with Him in new life. And when hundreds of people see the same thing, it’s got to be true! Two witnesses can send someone to jail, hundreds leave no room to argue.

Jesus Himself said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live”. Do you believe?

Spot 3:

The Bible says, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19)

It all started in the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve disobeyed and sin entered the picture. From then on everyone on Earth has been born into sin. You can try all you want being “good enough” for God, but will never make it thanks to Adam.

On the other hand Jesus Christ left heaven to become one of us, pay for our sins and give His righteousness – His goodness, holiness and perfection – to anyone who would believe. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”. (John 3:17-18) Do you believe?
